Eye-Fi Manager update released today

Playing with beta versions of Eye-Fi hardware and software is more than just part of my job, it is a perk that I for one enjoy. Over the summer I had the opportunity to use and provide feedback to the development team about all of the new features and enhancements released today in the Eye-Fi Manager web application. The committed Eye-Fi development team have once again demonstrated how hard work and long hours serve to make the Eye-Fi experience better than ever. The new Eye-Fi Manager web application release is automatic, the next time you log in you will notice several new features. Here is a brief description of what we added today.

Service Upgrades
New enhancements to the Eye-Fi Manager web application now allow “Eye-Fiers” with Eye-Fi Home and Share Cards the ability to customize their cards by adding Geotagging, Webshare and Hotspot Access service upgrades. Adding an upgrade is as easy adding a network profile to your card. Open the settings page in the Eye-Fi Manager and choose the upgrade you want. You’ll be taken to the new online Eye-Fi store where once you provide the necessary information, your Eye-Fi Card will automatically be upgraded with the new service(s). Cool eh?

Twitter support and RSS feeds
In addition to the online store we have added Twitter integration to the Eye-Fi notifications panel. Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service which allows its users to send and read others users’s short text-based updates. Twitter integration allows you to let yourself and others know when you have new photos to share online. Not being satisfied with Twitter updates we also added the the ability to set up RSS feeds. The Eye-Fi Manager Accounts page now contains an RSS control panel where you can setup RSS feeds for a variety of RSS aggregators. Now your Eye-Fi Card can be used to publish photos in a live real-time feed via the RSS to the aggregator of your choice.

Mobile Me and Adoramapix
We have also added integration with Apple’s MobileMe and Adorama’s Pix. MobileMe members will now be able to send photos from their camera to their MobileMe Gallery which can then be viewed by friends and family on the Web, iPhone, iPod touch and Apple TV. Adorama Pix users will be able to to upload photos directly from their camera to their AdoramaPix account, where they can edit, share and make prints.

Online Store
Service upgrades are only part of the story, for the first time Eye-Fi will be selling Eye-Fi Cards directly to users and www.eye.fi site visitors. Visitors to www.eye.fi can now purchase an Eye-Fi Card directly from Eye-Fi. The addition of the online store adds yet another place for folks to find and buy an Eye-Fi Card. Eye-Fiers with an Eye-Fi account will also be able purchase additional cards directly through the Eye-Fi Manager web application in addition to adding services as mentioned earlier.

Share your thoughts
Combine all of these new features and enhancements together and you have the result of a lot of hard work, development and testing designed for the purpose of making the act of sharing photos easy and more flexible than ever before.
